Oklahoma State Football Facts 

The Oklahoma State Cowboys football program was established in 1901 and has been growing ever since. Originally known as the Oklahoma A&M Aggies, the Oklahoma State Cowboys started as a small program in the Southwest Conference. Through the years the school name and conference changed. On May 15, 1957 the university officially changed its name to Oklahoma State and in 1996 Oklahoma State University joined with the Big 8 and 4 other schools to become the Big 12 Conference.

  

Oklahoma State Staff 

Today the Oklahoma State Cowboys football team is still a part of the Big 12 Conference Southern Division. The Cowboys play under the leadership of Oklahoma State University head coach Mike Gundy, who joined the Oklahoma State Cowboys roster in 2001 as the offensive coordinator and was named Oklahoma State University Head Coach in 2005.

  

Oklahoma State Success

Recently the Oklahoma State Cowboys have had a resurgence of football success. This new wave of football started with a 2001 victory over long-term rivals the Oklahoma Sooners. Then in 2002 the Oklahoma State Cowboys appeared in the Houston Bowl beating Southern Miss. In 2003 and 2004 the OSU Cowboys made it to the postseason but were defeated. In 2006 and 2007 the OSU Cowboys again made it to the BCS bowl series where they took home to trophies. The 2008 season was a great season for the Cowboys where they came out with a 9-4 record.  In 2009, they went 9-4 as well.
