Nathan Sorenson was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on July 21, 1991 to Marney and Paula Sorenson. He is the oldest of three and the family grew up in Texarkana, Texas. Nathan Sorenson and his siblings attended Texas High School where he was student council president, an academic all-state selection, and started leaning toward a future major and career in engineering.

Nathan Sorenson was dedicated onfield to his Texas High School football squad. He was starting quarterback for two seasons. During his junior year Nathan Sorenson passed for over 1,900 yards and 25 touchdowns. He also ran for 400 yards. By next season, Nathan Sorenson tallied 1,700 passing yards with 16 touchdowns and improved his rushing stats with 769 yards and seven scores.

Nathan Sorenson was named the District MVP and was a third-team member of the Texas Football Super Team. He also competed in track and baseball and was a state champion in both, first as a member of the 4x800 relay team and then as a shortstop and pitcher.
